Placer Theatre Ballet's "SNOW WHITE"
"It begins with an apple and ends with a kiss....."

Placer Theatre Ballet began production in February 2005 for "Snow White," an original ballet based on the beloved fairy tale. Planning for "Snow White" actually began in the Spring of 2003 when the idea for the ballet sprang from the creative mind of Pat Colgate, the Artistic Director for PTB. It was at that time that Pat wrote the storyline, gathered an eclectic mix of classical music from a variety of composers, and began the arduous task of designing and creating dozens of original costumes for this exciting new project. And then, two years later, a mix of regional dancers and professional guest artists were assembled to bring Pat's imaginative choreography to the stage. "Snow White" debuted in May 2005.

The tale of "Little Snow White" was originally written by the Brother's Grimm in the early 1900's. The story involves an orphaned girl who lives with a wicked queen driven to madness by the discovery that she just so happens to be sheltering "the fairest of them all." Placer Theatre Ballet's treatment has elements of both the Grimm and the Disney versions. The trusty seven dwarfs whistle their way to work, of course, even as the evil queen attempts to stir up a cauldron of trouble for our beautiful and kind-hearted young heroine.

In the 2005 production, Demetrius King from New York returned to Placer Theatre Ballet as the Prince and the exquisite Tessa Earl was the featured guest artist in the role of Snow White. Sold out audiences were thrilled to share in this timeless tale for all ages!
