Placer Theatre Ballet

Placer Theatre Ballet is a theatre ballet production company dedicated to the joy of storytelling through the art of dance. We welcome dancers from throughout the region in open auditions, provide quality performance opportunities, and offer aspiring young dancers significant roles alongside professional artists.  We offer high-caliber performances that are accessible to our community.  From audition to rehearsal to final production, cast members and audiences are enriched through the art of theatrical dance.

A publicly-funded 501(c)3 non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of corporate and invidual sponsors to support our efforts. The more we grow, the more we can accomplish. Thank you for your continued support and patronage.

Artistic Director, Pat Colgate

Artistic Director Pat Colgate is the heart and soul of Placer Theatre Ballet.  Ms. Colgate brings a wealth of talent and experience from her distinguished dance career.  She designs the costumes and choreography, in addition to directing and staging the bulk of every production.

Pat danced in Boston, Massachusetts at E.V. Williams, School of Dance for 13 years, studying tap, ballet, jazz and acrobatics. She was also a member of the Boston Ballet Company for three years. At age 15, Pat was accepted to the American Ballet Theatre School, (ABT), in New York City.

Pat has performed with the Boston Ballet Company, the Boston Opera Company, the New York City Rockettes, on Broadway, and throughout the Bay Area. In New York, she appeared in Bye Bye Birdie, Hit the Deck, and Destiny Rides Again. In San Francisco, she appeared in Funny Girl, Annie Get Your Gun, 42nd Street, Follies, La Cage Aux Folles, Chorus Line, No No Nannette, Good News, Pajama Game, Gypsy, Music Man, Of Thee I Sing, Godspell, Sugar, and Guys and Dolls.

Pat has taught at many dance studios across the country, and she owned her own dance studio for 25 years before moving to the Sacramento area.

Pat has received numerous awards throughout her career, whether performing, choreographing, or teaching. She was a choreographer and costumer for the Peninsula Youth Ballet Company. Throughout her amazing career, Pat has choreographed shows for numerous companies, but we are most fortunate of all because it is here that she made a home here in Placer County and founded Placer Theatre Ballet.
